Fiedler & Frías Architects worked on the conversion of part of an existing dry warehouse into refrigerated cold storage at a distribution center in Guaynabo, Puerto Rico. The project brings refrigerated storage on-site, improving the facility’s operational logistics.

Approximately 27,600 square feet of the facility’s roughly 51,000 are converted into refrigerated chambers for food storage. The work is entirely interior: it adds no new floor or occupied area and no new plumbing.

Scope includes:

• Insulated metal panel partitions forming the refrigerated chambers
• Storage racking, interior doors and refrigeration equipment
• Early-suppression fast-response (ESFR) automatic sprinklers
• Fire alarm system
• Two exits from every refrigerated chamber, with exit signage and lighting
